Right Size Vitals
Choose the Determinator Target that’s right for the animal you are going to hunt. Vital sizes vary; shoot each animal species target for the animals you are hunting. Being able to shoot 300 yards for an Elk translates to how far for a Pronghorn? Yes, it is over 100 yards less in distance.

Shoot from all shooting positionsIt’s important to know your effective range for all conceivable shooting positions before you hunt. "Get off the bench" and shoot from hunt shooting positions you expect to experience in your hunt. If you expect to shoot up to a certain distance practice until you can consistently hit that distance ring from your expected hunt shooting position. If you don't know what position, ask your guide, your mentor or your hunting buddy.

Why five shots?
We did our homework in determining how many shots (the minimum) that are required to determine your effective range. This minimum allows you to determine your effective range without developing bad habits.

Multiple aim points for guns sighted high
You’ll notice a series of three additional bullseyes located directly below the bullseye at the center of a Determinator target. These “Stacked” aim points are for rifles that are sighted in at 2”, 3” or 4” high at 100 yards allowing you to use these targets no matter how your gun is sighted in. A residual benefit of the multiple aim points is that they help train you to focus on a specific spot as opposed to an area.

Provide “No Bull” evaluation, instill “No Doubt” confidence
Determinator Targets provide a fair and accurate “No Bull” assessment of your true effective range, something that previously has been relatively difficult to accurately determine and, therefore, subject to testosterone-based embellishment. Just because one is able to hit their target once at a long range doesn’t mean that they can consistently make a one-shot humane kill at that range, which is the definition of “effective range” and the goal of Determinator Targets. Half the battle in any skill based effort is confidence. Using Determinator Targets instills "No Doubt" confidence by providing any shooter with demonstrable knowledge as to what their effective range is so that when a shot presents itself there is no doubt as to whether they can make that shot!
